How to Stay On Track With Your Fitness Goals

Staying fit and active can sometimes be more difficult than it seems. We know everyone would like to like to live a healthier lifestyle, always eat the right foods, never miss a workout, and be a generally more active person all around. However, the reality is that sometimes we need a little extra help in maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.

Creating a healthy system that works for you and maintaining a routine that you can stick to requires a little bit of honesty and diligence. Firstly, it is critical that you are honest with yourself about your current schedule. You might have a job that regularly requires you to work long hours, or a demanding household with children that requires you to do a lot of childcare at home, and understanding how you can carve out time for yourself throughout your week is ideally where you want to begin on your fitness journey.

Your routine will help you maintain the diligence you need in order to consistently stick to a regular workout and healthy eating schedule. For example, say you work a job that requires you to be in the office from 9 am to 6 pm. What you might want to do is work out in the mornings rather than the evenings after you get off of work. You might find that you get really tired after work, and just do not feel as motivated as you might feel in the mornings.

 

Exercise!

Give yourself some trial runs, get up in the mornings with enough time to not only work out but also eat breakfast. Or make sure to pack your breakfast and lunch the night before so you can take your meals with you before you go to work. Work out for 45 minutes to an hour three to five times for one week and see how that works for you. From here, the following week you might want to try working out after you get off work three to five times per week.

Feel out your schedule, how did working out in the morning as opposed to working out in the evening’s work for you? Remember that each person and each body is different, so what works for someone else may not work well for you. This is okay!

Extra Boost

Many people with regular routines also engage in products that help them with an extra boost of energy or products that have vitamins and minerals included in them that will help you receive a bit more of the nutrition you need. Carnitine, for example, is a great supplement and is a common component of fat burners. The best time to take l carnitine can vary depending on your workout schedule, but always before you workout!

You might also consider bringing different variations of fluids that will help you hydrate your body faster. Proper hydration is key in your daily life. Drinking water, coconut water, or other drinks that have zero sugar and sodium, will help boost your energy, curb hunger pains that you are perceived to be hunger pains due to dehydration, and give your skin a great internal glow!

Healthy Eating Habits

You might have heard before that working out is only 20% of what makes up a healthy lifestyle. This is true, your diet actually makes up about 80% of the requirement to lose unhealthy weight and fat!

Keeping a clean diet can be the hardest part, this is also a fact for everyone! We all love our sweet treats and savoury dishes, but eating healthy does not necessarily have to completely rid your life of sweet and savoury treats. All this means is that you should keep a balanced log of your meals.

Meal prepping is a great way to determine what you should eat when you should eat it, and reduce food waste in your home. Planning meals that have healthy proteins like chicken breast or salmon, and are accompanied by a medley of vegetables. You can get creative with your vegetables to make them your favourite part of your meal! Stay away from using the same boring vegetable every single day, this will only make your fitness goals harder to reach.

Opt for Brussel sprouts, broccoli, asparagus, carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms, the list goes on. Try to a couple of different vegetables together to give you a sense that you are eating new and exciting meals each day. Also, be mindful of the carbs that you choose to eat to go with your meals. While potatoes are delicious, maybe opting for a sweet potato would be a better option for you if you tend to overeat carb-loaded foods.
