4 Fun Mall Activities to Consider for Your Child’s Birthday

As a child, you probably always had your birthday celebrations at home, complete with cakes and balloons and lots of fun stuff.

Now that you’ve grown up and become a parent, do you want to do it the same way for your child? Or maybe you want to try something a bit different but equally enjoyable for the birthday celebrant?

Birthdays don’t always mean parties. Sometimes, all it takes is a fun trip to the best shopping mall in Doha.

Not sure how a trip to the mall can make your kid’s birthday extra special? Here are four super fun mall activities you can try for their birthday:

  1. Amusement Parks

Most shopping malls have amusement centers that serve as a perfect destination for children of all ages. However, Doha Festival City – the largest shopping mall in Qatar – has an even better spot: the Angry Birds World.

It’s a perfect alternative to typical mall activities, with many attractions to choose from. If your child is old enough, you can let him enjoy more than 20 rides and attractions at the mall’s official amusement park. Even better, have them bring friends along to this indoor-outdoor space.

Just remember to schedule your trip on a Wednesday or Saturday when the park is open.

  1. Video Game Hubs

While most parents don’t want their children to spend most of their time staring at screens, a birthday can be an exception. The day is all about your child, and if what they enjoy most is playing digital games, then why not let them head to VIRTUOCiTY?

As the first virtual gaming hub in the MENA region, this destination attracts serious gamers and youngsters looking for sheer online gaming fun.

Sometimes used as a venue for international competitions, VIRTUOCiTY is the perfect spot for playing some of the most popular digital games, such as Mobile Legends, World of Warships, and Fortnite.

Players can also test their wits in the escape rooms if all the arena gaming booths are taken. It even has a hangout area where your child can convene with other kids to create teams, form alliances, and make new real-life friends.

The best part is, there’s also a retail store that serves as a gateway for everything and anything related to gaming, be it apparel, limited edition items, latest games, and many more.

  1. Shopping Games

Shopping malls have many items your child would probably want to buy, and this is a fact you can use to your advantage when planning your child’s birthday treat.

But instead of just letting them run wild across aisles of toys and kids’ stuff, give them purpose. Invite their friends and classmates and have them participate in these awesome shopping games:

Shopping Scavenger Hunt

To start a shopping scavenger hunt, divide the children into teams. Hand over some supplies to them and a list of items they’ll need to procure for the scavenger hunt.

You can also instruct them to take photos of their findings using a smartphone (if at least one member of each team has one) or record it on the checklist.

Once they have all they need, set up a time and place to meet. The first team to complete the list and arrives at the destination wins.

If you’re providing post-game dinner or snacks, you can set up the finish line at a restaurant inside the mall. For younger children, make sure to ask other grown-ups to chaperone.

“What Can You Buy With…” Game

This game is fun and educational at the same time.

To begin, give each participant a limited amount of cash or a mall gift certificate with the same value. Then, set the rules and time limit for the game.

The player who buys the most items using the given amount of money wins the game. Parents also benefit from it, too, as the participating children will learn a thing or two about budgeting.

  1. Movie Birthday Party

If you or your child aren’t fond of amusement parks, video games, competitions, or running around the mall, then a movie birthday party is the perfect choice for you.

A movie party mostly revolves around watching a film. While that may sound simple, there are several elements you should think about to make this activity a success, including:

The Movie

Choose a movie to watch ahead of the party.

You can watch whatever is available on the day of the event or request a specific film to be shown for the occasion. Either way, you’ll have to think about it before you head to the mall, not when you’re already there for you to save time and make sure that every guest has a seat reserved for them.

The Snacks

Some movie theaters offer party packages that include food and drinks for guests. However, you can still choose to rent the venue only and bring your own cake and snacks for the party.

Besides the usual party staples, you may also need to serve popcorn for your guests to snack on during the film showing. The good news is that cinemas always have a concession stand for this movie snack, so you won’t have to bring some for the occasion.

The Guests

Before the day of the movie party, make sure you confirm the number of guests who’ll be attending.

Contact parents ahead of the event to confirm their attendance. Even better, ask if they’re staying with the kids throughout the film-showing. Besides being included on the guest list, they can also help look after the children throughout the party.

A Final Word

There are plenty of activities for kids in Doha malls that are perfect for a birthday treat. Of course, you can also use the activities listed in this article, even if it’s not your child’s birthday.

If you want to do this more often, why not sign them up for a kids’ club membership? Like most reward programs, this will also give your child exclusive perks that they can enjoy even if it’s not their birthday.
